First stop: the abbey of Santa Maria de Olearia<\/h2>\n

Located in an enviable panoramic position, the\u00a0Abbey\u00a0<\/strong>of\u00a0Santa Maria de Olearia<\/a>\u00a0is Maiori’s first site for visitors arriving from Capo d’Orso. Bearing witness to the intense\u00a0monastic life\u00a0<\/strong>that developed in the area since the year 1000, the building is divided into three\u00a0chapels\u00a0<\/strong>that house numerous\u00a0frescoes\u00a0<\/strong>depicting scenes from the life of the Virgin and various saints: an interesting cross-section of\u00a0medieval art<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Maiori \u2013 The Amalfi Coast: what is there to see? The Castle of San Nicola de Thoro-Plano<\/h2>\n

Another unmissable attraction is the\u00a0Castle of San Nicola de Thoro-Plano<\/a>, a defensive fortress dating back to the\u00a09th century<\/strong>. The last guardian and curator of the manor,\u00a0Mastro Crescenzo<\/strong>, who can answer all your questions, is there to guide visitors (free of charge) to discover its secrets. Weekend in Maiori: visit to the Collegiate Church of Santa Maria a Mare<\/h2>\n

The third stop\u00a0on our tour of Maiori\u00a0<\/strong>is the\u00a0Collegiate Church of Santa Maria a Mare<\/a>, a church built in the 13th century on Mount Torina, on the remains of the ancient\u00a0fortress Sant’Angelo<\/strong>, protecting the town from above. The majestic\u00a0neoclassical\u00a0<\/strong>three-aisle interior is covered by a\u00a0gilded coffered ceiling\u00a0<\/strong>by painter\u00a0Alessandro de Fulco<\/strong>, while the quadrangular\u00a0bell tower\u00a0<\/strong>and the lively\u00a0green and yellow majolica dome stand out on<\/strong>\u00a0the outside.<\/p>\n

Walk on the Lemon Trail on the Amalfi Coast<\/h2>\n

Leaving the collegiate church behind, you can head out on\u00a0the historic Lemon Trail<\/strong>, which connects Maiori with Minori via the village of\u00a0Torre<\/strong>. A route through lush and fragrant cultivations of that world-renowned\u00a0“Amalfi Coast” IGP lemon<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The charm of Maiori’s beaches for a weekend<\/h2>\n

The beautiful Tyrrhenian coastline, lapped by crystal-clear waters, is certainly one of the area’s most important attractions. If you’re\u00a0in Positano, you can enjoy the sea and several dream beaches<\/a>; also in\u00a0Maiori<\/strong>, you spoilt for choice. You should know that right here is the\u00a0longest bay of the entire Amalfi Coast<\/strong>, almost a kilometer of fine golden sand with about fifteen bathing establishments, for a relaxing moment of comfort and services.<\/p>\n

What is there to see in Maiori? The promenade and the Towers<\/h2>\n
