The MART: futurism and art gardens<\/strong><\/h2>\n

It is one of Europe’s most important museums: the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art<\/u><\/a> of Trento and Rovereto (MART), established in 1987, houses many important works such as paintings by Giacomo Balla and Carlo Carr\u00e0, among the most prominent exponents of Futurism; canvases by Giorgio De Chirico<\/strong>; and a permanent selection of sculptures displayed outdoors in the Sculpture Garden<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

You can visit the MART from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10 am to 6 pm, and on Fridays from 10 am to 9 pm. You can buy tickets or book a guided tour on the official website.<\/p>\n

Casa Depero: house of art and anarchy <\/strong><\/h2>\n

The MART also comprises the Casa d’Arte Futurista Depero<\/strong>, Italy’s first and only futurist museum, which played a crucial part in restoring and enhancing the complex. It was founded by the forerunner of futurism and contemporary design, Fortunato Depero. Works, tools, toys \u2013 the Casa (House) brings to life the ironic and somewhat anarchic spirit of the artist in its permanent collection and temporary exhibitions.<\/p>\n

The Legacy of the Great War<\/strong><\/h2>\n

From figurative art to the chronicles of our history. The mountains around Rovereto were the site of intense fighting during World War I, and its legacy is preserved and narrated at the Italian War History Museum<\/strong>, which opened as early as 1921. Photographs, soldiers’ endowments, and written accounts such as posters or leaflets illustrate what the war was like a century ago.<\/p>\n
