Here is <strong>what to see on a day-trip to Udine<\/strong>!<\/p>\n<h2><strong>Let&#8217;s begin with Udine&#8217;s Duomo<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>We begin our short but intense tour from the <strong>Duomo of Udine<\/strong>, the Church of Santa Maria Annunziata, located in the heart of the city and dating back to the <strong>13th century<\/strong>. Founded as a simple Franciscan church, over the centuries the structure has undergone numerous alterations that have bestowed its current appearance. Established in the 13th century as a space for the <strong>new market<\/strong>, it was later the scene of many <strong>executions<\/strong>. Built in the Middle Ages, throughout the centuries it was always an indispensable landmark of the territory, especially during the <strong>Patriarchate of Aquileia<\/strong>. Today, it houses several <strong>museums <\/strong>(not to be missed the Archaeological one) and <strong>art galleries<\/strong>, where you can admire <strong>the frescoes of Tiepolo <\/strong>and <strong>the Bollani del Palladio arch<\/strong>. But that&#8217;s not all: the esplanade at the top of the castle is also the <strong>vantage point <\/strong>that gives you the best view of the city.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>What to see in Udine: Piazza della Libert\u00e0<\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>It is considered the most beautiful <strong>Venetian square <\/strong>after St. Mark&#8217;s. Located just at the foot of the castle, <strong>Piazza della Libert\u00e0 <\/strong>is framed by a series of beautiful <strong>Renaissance-style buildings<\/strong>. Stop here to admire the <strong>Carrara fountain<\/strong>, the <strong>Lionello loggia<\/strong>, and the <strong>twin statues of Hercules and Cacus<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<h2><strong>A weekend in Udine: visit to Casa Cavazzini <\/strong><\/h2>\n<p>Let&#8217;s remain on the <strong>art theme<\/strong>, but this time we focus on the 20th century. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.civicimuseiudine.it\/en\/civic-museums\/casa-cavazzini\"><u>Casa <\/u><u>Cavazzini<\/u><\/a> is the home of <strong>Udine&#8217;s<\/strong>\u00a0\u00a0 <strong>Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art<\/strong>: the structure, renovated according to a design by <strong>Gae Aulenti<\/strong>, is poised to become a driver of culture and an engine of revitalization for the entire city.
